Hansa-isms

Thinks Hansa calls Dinosaurs ("dye-soars"):
  • Reindeer lawn decorations (Xmas in the 'burbs)
  • Zebras on the shirt she insisted on wearing two days in a row - we finally fought to put it in the laundry
Kaka-claus - Santa Claus

Bubbles - water
used to say "baba" and spit water out thinking it would become bubbles
We corrected her when she started Puddle Jumpers

Bo/muk - milk

Nackum - napkin, which she thinks will be the end-all/cure-all for any and all spills, even when she is in the bathtub

Fruit:
MINGO- used to be the word for any and all fruit
Be-na-na
SI-MAN-NA: persimmon, mini pumpkins
pom-at: pomegranate
O-NAJ: orange

Puckin - pumpkin, persimmons early on

Mee-sow: music
       Now it's mee-sic
Favorite CD (by FAR): Willy & the Poor Boys
       Excellent pacifier
Sings along - "spe-shull!" "ta-ble" "meee!"  "son" for Fortunate Son

Favorite foods: pistachio (tash-o), chicken (chee-kahn), broccoli (bockey), fried potatoes, raisins

"Walk" - hold hands

Waf - lap

DI-POE - diaper

Pie-see - spicy

Are you hitting on me?

So I currently have two laptops - a D610 and a D400, the latter is much smaller and lighter. And I thought it was obvious by plain sight. I had them both out and was talking to one of my more friendly male customers. He said they do not look different and I told him that one is so much lighter and easier to carry. So he picked them both up one by one, and said, "I can't tell any difference in weight, but the muscles in my arms ARE really strong."

So a couple of weekends ago, I took my first spin class. The bike seat HURTS, but my girl crush kept asking me to come to her spin class. So right after, I was setting up for my girl crush's weightlifting class..that's right! Two intense classes back to back! And if she had a swim class after, I would have jumped right in the pool! A guy who asked me out earlier this year came up to me and asked, "have you been working out?" So, that could be a compliment I guess...outside of a gym. Like if a friend you have not seen in a couple of months notices you looking more toned, etc. But I was in a gym, and he sees me around fairly frequently. So, I just let him keep going, "I mean..like before this class, were you on the machines or something?" I say, "why? Am I that sweaty?" And he says, "um..yeah..kind of," and laughs nervously.

My male coworker got really mad at me and my cluelessness one day and started impersonating me, "he said he wanted to have dinner with me. Do you think he wants to have dinner with me?"

Scavenger Hunt!

My cousin's friend had a big digital camera scavenger hunt for her birthday, and my cousin invited me because silly competitive games are right up my alley. We were divided up into teams after lining up by order of birthday, so I got separated from my cousin and ended up on a team of four people who had never met before. We were all competitive, results-oriented people despite the fact that there was no promise of a real prize. And, everyone on my team was a really good sport about getting pictures taken of themselves doing goofy things all over the Mission and pounding the pavement in the 80 degree heat. And I think we were all the same astrological sign. Take it or leave it.

Here are some of the pictures, and I have many more. I cannot remember what some of the relevant tasks were, but the pictures are still funny.

There was something about this mural that we were *very* proud to find. But it looks like we were all trying to be the best Vanna we could be.

Charlie's Angels

We chose Walk Like an Egyptian for our group dance.

Did Mom say to let complete strangers feed you or not to?

I cannot easily explain why we are worshipping the guy in the Google t-shirt, but I am pretty sure we made his day.

I can say it is not the acronym for French Connection UK we are trying to spell out. Can you believe I laid down on the ground in the Mission for nothing?

I do not remember, but Mac N Cheese sounds pretty good right now.

The task was to find a high-scoring scrabble word. So we bought a travel scrabble board to spell out our word that my teammate found on his iPhone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Raj-Ann left this on my Facebook. :)
So the only men who have paid attention to me today are my middle-aged, married competitor and my middle-aged boss who is committed to a man. My competitor sent me a candygram through a student organization. Probably to entertain our customers. I tried not to give him the reaction he was banking on, but I did snap, "you realize I have to report this to my HR department?"
My boss was NOT amused. He called this evening again and left a message, "what is going on with your numbers this year? CALL ME when you get this." Great, I get to have a conversation with my boss at 8pm on Valentine's Day. "First of all, I heard through the grapevine that you went on date last night and found out he was in high school. How did that even happen?" Huge exaggeration. "Just want to remind you that law students are off limits."
