So I currently have two laptops - a D610 and a D400, the latter is much smaller and lighter. And I thought it was obvious by plain sight. I had them both out and was talking to one of my more friendly male customers. He said they do not look different and I told him that one is so much lighter and easier to carry. So he picked them both up one by one, and said, "I can't tell any difference in weight, but the muscles in my arms ARE really strong."
So a couple of weekends ago, I took my first spin class. The bike seat HURTS, but my girl crush kept asking me to come to her spin class. So right after, I was setting up for my girl crush's weightlifting class..that's right! Two intense classes back to back! And if she had a swim class after, I would have jumped right in the pool! A guy who asked me out earlier this year came up to me and asked, "have you been working out?" So, that could be a compliment I guess...outside of a gym. Like if a friend you have not seen in a couple of months notices you looking more toned, etc. But I was in a gym, and he sees me around fairly frequently. So, I just let him keep going, "I mean..like before this class, were you on the machines or something?" I say, "why? Am I that sweaty?" And he says, "um..yeah..kind of," and laughs nervously.
My male coworker got really mad at me and my cluelessness one day and started impersonating me, "he said he wanted to have dinner with me. Do you think he wants to have dinner with me?"

Scavenger Hunt!
My cousin's friend had a big digital camera scavenger hunt for her birthday, and my cousin invited me because silly competitive games are right up my alley. We were divided up into teams after lining up by order of birthday, so I got separated from my cousin and ended up on a team of four people who had never met before. We were all competitive, results-oriented people despite the fact that there was no promise of a real prize. And, everyone on my team was a really good sport about getting pictures taken of themselves doing goofy things all over the Mission and pounding the pavement in the 80 degree heat. And I think we were all the same astrological sign. Take it or leave it.
Here are some of the pictures, and I have many more. I cannot remember what some of the relevant tasks were, but the pictures are still funny.

There was something about this mural that we were *very* proud to find. But it looks like we were all trying to be the best Vanna we could be.

Charlie's Angels

We chose Walk Like an Egyptian for our group dance.

Did Mom say to let complete strangers feed you or not to?

I cannot easily explain why we are worshipping the guy in the Google t-shirt, but I am pretty sure we made his day.

I can say it is not the acronym for French Connection UK we are trying to spell out. Can you believe I laid down on the ground in the Mission for nothing?

I do not remember, but Mac N Cheese sounds pretty good right now.

The task was to find a high-scoring scrabble word. So we bought a travel scrabble board to spell out our word that my teammate found on his iPhone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Raj-Ann left this on my Facebook. :)
So the only men who have paid attention to me today are my middle-aged, married competitor and my middle-aged boss who is committed to a man. My competitor sent me a candygram through a student organization. Probably to entertain our customers. I tried not to give him the reaction he was banking on, but I did snap, "you realize I have to report this to my HR department?"
My boss was NOT amused. He called this evening again and left a message, "what is going on with your numbers this year? CALL ME when you get this." Great, I get to have a conversation with my boss at 8pm on Valentine's Day. "First of all, I heard through the grapevine that you went on date last night and found out he was in high school. How did that even happen?" Huge exaggeration. "Just want to remind you that law students are off limits."

I LOVE MY JOB!!!

My boss called tonight and left me a five minute message, "I know it's late, so PLEASE DO NOT call me back, but I had to tell you..." that everyone is arguing over how to evaluate results from last year. But that no matter what anyone suggests, I always come out number one!
Most people judge me for my career choice. You know who you are. And, you should know that I am judging you right back!!! People who really love me, besides my parents, are happy because I am happy. I have kissed so many career frogs, and this is the only job that encompasses a role that I am simultaneously good at and enjoy. I set my own hours and basically run my own business with very few rules, and I get results that get recognized. I spend most of my workday with people who are sweet, intelligent, and funny. What else could I want? More money and less time to enjoy life? More prestige?
Just because people who have known me since I was a child think I could do almost anything, I should? I am convinced that most of my achievements in life are due to some natural ability with numbers. I took the LSAT on a whim because I thought the games would be fun, and they were! My perfect score on the games brought my mediocre scores in the other areas up enough for it to make sense for me to go to law school. I don't regret it.
Still think I should practice patent law? Read some highlights from my performance review:
She has strong customer relationships, limitless energy, strong credibility and the creativity required to be at the top. Amy is a role-model for delivery of results and passion for winning. She clearly considers success a critical part of her employment and achieves to always deliver. Her positive attitude and unwillingness to be derailed by non-essential events makes her amazingly coachable and a wonderful employee to have on a team. She has shown amazing progress in terms of valuing people since 2007 saw a new focus on sharing and helping colleagues in a way calculated to assist and encourage them to meet the same top results she traditionally has.
Amy has an enormous amount to offer. I hope she can work closely with her manager to discover ways in which she can develop more opportunities to share ideas and processes for implementing common programs in her unique results oriented, no-nonsense way. I'd like to see her move beyond her own region and territory to achieve a place of prominence and credibility at the national level.

***Now there is no reason appear three inches taller and I am starting to replace all my shoes. Look how adorable my new flats are! My career choice is a win-win! But why do they make pants so long?? It's a conspiracy!***

I Must be the Reason Men do not ask Women Out in Real Life Anymore...
..but I wish I could figure out why.
I was doing lunges in a class at the gym (which seems to be the center of my blogs), and there was a guy I have seen around a bit. There is really loud music playing, and he says something to me about water.
me: WHAT?
him: DO YOU WANT TO GET SOME WATER?
me: "DO I WANT TO GET SOME WATER?"
him: YES. DO YOU?
me: NO! (I just wanted to get the 10 laps over with!)
..man exits..
..amy realizes he was technically asking her out for a drink...oh well.
But recently he gave me some of his equipment. Oh, okay. Thanks, dude. I appreciate you carrying stuff for me in a weight-lifting class. Then he asked when I was coming back. I told him a time. I was late that day, and he was walking out as I walked in, said he had too much work. But then he turns around and follows me.
It finally hits me. I realize that I feel like bolting. I do not know anything about him..there was no profile for me to read! But he is a decent guy and we all complain that decent guys do not hit on us enough in real life. He asked if I "want to meet up sometime?" I said, "okay." Then he asks when I am coming back to the gym! Oh, THAT is what you want? You cornered me to ask me to be your workout buddy?
My mom asked me a few months ago if men ask me out. She implied that maybe I walk too fast. I told her once I was waiting for a train, a guy walked up to me and said I was pretty. I thanked him. Then he got on the next train and I continued to wait for my train.

My Girl Crush Likes Me Back!
See the My Girl Crush post from last year. Everyone likes her, not just me. Her class on Saturday mornings is so packed, it is a fire hazard. People rush the door as soon as the previous class is finished, and get into catfights over space and equipment.
I was, as usual, one of the last people to finish putting my stuff away. She said to me that she is going to really crack down on people coming in late and crowding everyone else, and say that if there are no more steps left, no more people can join.
I said that I have been late recently, and that I got the last step today. She said, "oh. From now on, when I get here, I will get an extra step for you. Because I would be really bummed if you couldn't come to class!"
Special treatment. She likes me :)

Why do People want to Read my Blog?
Is it because they think I am writing down my meaningful thoughts about Obama, McCain and Hillary? Because I am not.
Except maybe this entry. I might make political commentary in my own way.
The day after Super Tuesday, I had a big training at the school. The caterer was late and frazzled, so I asked the class of about 40 students, if anyone would go help him unload the food. Five girls stood up right away. The class was at least 70% male! I guess if Hillary can win the state, that is it for expecting special treatment. No more push-ups on our knees either!
I moved the cleanest blog entries over from myspace, and am trying to keep my entries as sane as I can since it is a little public now. So I will try to show a little more of my connection with reality from now on.
